Managing time is impossible

I say that on purpose. It is because of love, time and money are the hardest to keep in balance. We strive to achieve all yet no one has ever nailed the three. Money and time are the too that has never been enough. You wake up with the best list ever to work on and before you know it the day is over still on one or two of them. See, did you manage the time? No. Time keeps marching on irrespective of your never-ending list for the day. Sometimes I wake up and just missing only one thing to do for the rest of the day, nothing. You know. How about we call it prioritizing instead of time management. Getting organized and sticking to the plan. Focus on one task single-mindedly at a time is indeed prioritizing. Maybe time management means doing what you said you will do as soon as you wake up. Just watch the clock in whatever you do. Let’s say you wake up at 4 am. Go to the gym at 6 and head on to work at 7. You start at the first task as soon as you get to work. Now it’s 12 at noon and you still stuck at task number one for the day. I think you have managed yourself and decided maybe not to leave a task undone. Only if the circumstances force you to hang ten to get back on it next time.

We plan every year to do better in the new one. A long list of resolutions every year that never get to be completed. I’ve always wondered how do people with kids, study, do business, go to the gym often and other commitments manage their time. They are in control. Managing themselves. Disciplined and well organized. Committed to the core. Take corrective action and reflect at the end of the day. See that’s being in control of your environment. Taking charge at all costs. I always think that it’s either I am so lazy or unable to execute. There is no need for me to have a to-do-list if I am still going to do the same thing tomorrow. Many times I would blame myself of being so idle and useless for not being busy like everyone. All you have to do is to prioritize.

You first prioritize and get organized. You will never get to manage time. The best you can do is to be in control of your behavior on time, environment and your surroundings. Let’s say you do have kids and they keep interrupting while you’re reading. It’s either you stop reading and give attention to them. You are doing your best to handle the situation so that by the time you decide to focus your environment is under control. How do you manage 24 hours a day? The time keeps marching on whether you follow your list or not. If you are reading this article and along the way you sort of trying to figure out what am I trying to say the clock is not going to wait for that pausing. Let’s say you were planning to read this article for four minutes or in the next 10 minutes. You get lost or motivated. You get your aha moment. When time gets wasted it will never be returned. Our job is to respect time. Keep our promises. We ought to value time at all costs. Ask runners a millisecond is a big deal.
